The main highlight of this tour is attending the Eagle Hunting Festival (Burgediin Bayar), a festival that is uniquely Mongolian and unparalleled in the world. Eagles have been used by the nomadic Kazak people of the Ulgii Provence for centuries. Steeped in Mongolian culture and tradition this festival will allow you to experience part of Mongolia that is remarkably different to the rest of the country. After the festival we will have a chance to explore the stunning Western Mongolian Altai mountain ranges, picturesque glaciers, lakes, ancient rock paintings and breath-taking mountains.

Before heading out to Western Mongolia for the festival, you will get a taste of Central Mongolia where you will witness the wild Przewalski horse and some other famous Mongolian landmarks in stunning national parks.

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS:

**Please note that the weather is significantly colder in Western Mongolia than the rest of the Country and also we recommend that you have a good level of fitness.

Itinerary

23 Sep
This is the official first day of the tour. We’ll pick you up from your hotel and take you on a tour of Ulaanbaatar city. Our first stop is a department store in Ulaanbaatar where you can have money exchanged, buy toiletries and a sim card or relax at one of the metropolitan cafes. Next, you will visit Gandan monastery (the largest in Ulaanbaatar), The National Museum of Mongolia and Chinggis Main Square. In the evening, you can join our welcoming dinner at a traditional Mongolian cuisine restaurant and get to know your fellow travellers and the host. Overnight in 3 star hotel (B)

24 Sep
In the morning we will drive to Terelj National Park which is 60km east of Ulaanbaatar city (UB). Terelj NP is popular for its scenic valleys and forested hills with a winding river and groves of trees and wild flowers. After we arrive to our ger (traditional home) camp we will do our opening welcoming ceremony and yoga meditation practice. In the afternoon we will explore the stunning scenery of Terelj NP Turtle rock formation. There will be an opportunity for a one hour horse ride.

25 Sep
We start the day with our morning yoga and meditation while enjoying stunning Terelj NP’s scenery that is surrounded by granite rocky hills. In the afternoon we will visit The Aryabal Buddhist meditation centre temple. The temple has many interesting features such as it’s 108 step stairway designed for meditation and reflection and symbolises an elephant’s trunk. The pathway and the temple itself are lined with the dharma (Buddhist teachings).

26 Sep
After morning breakfast we will drive to Khustai NP park and on the way we will see the Chinggis khaan statue complex. Chiggis khaan statue complex is the world's largest statue of a rider on a horse. Showing Chinggis Khaan (1162-1227) with a golden whip in his hand gazing into the distance. There we will get a chance to practice our yoga and meditation to absorb this historical land and the historical man’s energy. Later in the afternoon we will continue the drive to Khustai national park. Note: this is a bit of a driving day but its gonna be worth it!

27 Sep
We start with morning practice of Yoga and Meditation in the wild Hustai National Park. Hustai Park is home to the Blue Wolf, Mongolian Gazelly, Lynx, Argali sheep and deer to name a few. It’s well known for it’s wild horse (Przewalksii horse) which was first re – introduced in the park, which also has many other hidden treasures to explore including rock formations, patches of large Birch Forests and remains of Neolithic graves from the stone Age.

28 Sep
After our beautiful morning routine in Khustai NP we will take our time do some hiking reading journaling, later in the afternoon we will drive back to UB city.

29 Sep
Meet in UB hotel and fly to the Ulgii capital of the Bayan-Ulgii province, Ulgii The flight takes 3 and a half hours, and on arrival a local driver will take us to ger camp where will have our lunch. We will have a chance to explore the surrounding of ger camp. We will practice evening yoga and rest up, as tomorrow is big day!

30 Sep - 1 Oct
After a beautiful nourishing yoga session, Morning yoga and meditation in the magical Western Mongolian landscape. We will leave for the Golden Eagle Festival where we will get a chance to see the Kazakh Eagle hunters. The eagle hunting festival offers a fantastic opportunity for photographers and adventurers to experience a unique and magical disappearing culture. There are approx. 300 eagle hunters that gather to compete at the festival. There are several disciplines that are designed to show off the skills of both of the birds and their trainers. Prizes are awarded for speed, agility and accuracy, as well as for best traditional Kazakh dress.

Starting with morning yoga. We will take our time to do some hiking, reading and journaling, later in the afternoon we will take the opportunity to visit the Kazak nomadic people and explore and learn about their lifestyle which will help you get an understanding of the difference between central and western Mongolian traditions.

3 Oct
After our last meditation and breakfast session we’ll head back to civilization in Ulaanbaatar city and gather for a group farewell dinner. Before or after the dinner we will enjoy a spectacular traditional Dance & Music Performance where you will have a chance to be enchanted by sounds of Huumii throat singing and Morin huuri (horse fiddle).
